Why I do not need vacations or how I keep blood pressure below 120/80

I was with my doctor today to get treatment for hair root infection. He checked my BP - it was 118/70. He complimented me on keeping same BP for last 15 years, even when as a true Punjabi, I enjoy lot of butter and pakoras ....

Well, here is what I do to keep low blood pressure and does not look forward to vacations or even a weekend -
  1. I work for 12 hours a day X 7 days a week on thing that I enjoy and make money.
  2. get royal welcome from maggie and a good smile from Geeta on reaching home,
  3. spend three hours every week with saksham kids and see their smile and excitement. Spend some money and get lot of fun and enjoyment.
  4. get up in the morning when  maggie's starts licking my face, Spend 45 minutes in park walking and listening to the birds.
  5. Have a library with books on Psychology, Management, Fiction, Sex and Religion. Spend more time and money on books than on TV.
  6. And live a life that I love.

Try it out and you may find that enjoying every day life is more addictive than any thing else you are addicted to ........

Three Kind of Lions - Jungle, Circus and Zoo

Lion of Circus - He gets good food and good grooming every day. In lieu of that he need to follow the instruction of his ring master, perform every day and keep every one including his owner, ring master and viewers happy. In case of any illness, circus owner takes care of all medical assistance also. However the day circus owner finds that he is beyond useful life and even medical treatment will not help him perform in shows, he is discarded, killed or sold. Also in case circus goes into losses or a Govt regulations ban it, it is problems for the lion of circus.

Lion of Zoo - He gets good food for all life and also medical treatment. He is relaxed and need not perform for most of his life. There is no ring master. However he is in cage. Every one is afraid of him, even when he is in cage, however he has no real power. There is no risk of Govt Ban or losses as usually zoo are govt funded. They get lot of support, food, water, comfort in all conditions. Any adverse situations like hot weather and you find coolers being organised for them. Lions in zoo can not pro-create. Some experiments to create jungle like conditions for pro-creations have been done with almost zero success rate.

Lion of Jungle  - He is free and do what he wish to do. However he needs to hunt for the food every day. There is no safety and security. However statistics says that he does not face any real issues in real life and manage to find food every day and is usually more healthy and happy and usually gets more and better quality of food than the ones in zoo and circus. Well there are some problems and they are usually very serious as he has to manage every thing on his own.

Govt or Public have started supporting lions in the jungle. With every passing year, support is increasing as almost every one ie Govt and Public realizes that Zoo and Circus can not sustain with out the lion in the jungle. He is the one who creates every thing including wealth for Zoo and Circus. He is the ALPHA MALE. The recent ads from AIRCEL on "save the tigers" is one such example of Public/Media efforts to support lions in Jungle.

Almost all lions from Zoo and Circus envy Lion from Jungle. They also want to go back to the nature  and have fun, but do not have guts or opportunities. They do talk about about safety and security at circus or Zoo.

No Past, No Future, Only Present

My last seminar ( Wed, Jan 6th,2009) on INVENTED LIFE was rocking. Ritu Shri, our coach explained in so simple ways that there is no past or future just the present.

She said that our past memories are simply neurons firing now and our hopes for future are nothing but neurons firing now. She explained that when we fear, it is nothing but our neurons firing and then we do not take action.

I could make our why people do drugs or indulge in alcohol, well it simply suppresses neurons firing.

I also learned that we do not take action due to fear.  And it is possible to take action despite fear.  Just take action.

Now about results,  how this seminar helped me in my business -

I usually do not approach potential customers or ask for payment upfront from my existing customers. I always fear that they may not buy my services or think I am greedy or short of money or does not have trust on them. During the seminar I saw that this is not real but just my neurons firing due to some old events.

On 6th late night, I emailed one of my customer that I am not interested in working with him, till he clear all my pending payments. I prefer relaxing than working and keep chasing for payments.

On next morning (Jan 7th,2009) I picked up the phone and called one of my prospective customers and asked for  a meeting. I met him, invited to my office, make a presentation. I told him that business will start with an advance payment.

On Jan 9th, both of them have made payment to me.

What next
I will be sending proposal to two more customers in this week. Will post the results next sunday.

This seminar has also helped me in my personal life. More about that in my next post.

will be celebrating 25 years of marriage this year

I will be completing 25th marriage anniversary this year. Just wanted to share some of the photographs and my views.

I got married at the age of 24 years and was working with DCM Data Products . Geeta was 23 years old and was working as Maths teacher at Manav Stahli School.

I had ideas of low cost, no dowry marriage,. However Geeta's family wanted a normal conventional marriage.

Result was what you can see in the enclosed photographs, I was in normal clothes, no coat or tie, borrowed shoes from Vijay, there was no loud music from a band, no decorative lights at our home,  day marriage on a  sunday afternoon, no religious ceremonies at our home.

While Geeta was dressed like a bride and their family followed all religious ceremonies in their family.

After marriage we were literally a text book example from MAN ARE FROM MARS AND WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS.

However over last 25 years, we have learned the art of understanding the difference between people from mars and venus.

I have a question

We go thru pre-school, school and college and do lot of professional courses and learn every thing like English, Maths, Electronics, Engineering, Medicines, why not have formal class room training on personal relations and how to handle marriage?

National Animal of India - Tiger or Mouse

Let me share a small even that happened around 16 years back.

It was a sunday afternoon in the month of November in Delhi. Me, Geeta and Upasana were going to Pragati Maidan in a auto-rickshaw. We were enjoying the  chilly winter after noon with a warm Sun and a pollution free area of Delhi Cantt.  All of us were looking forward to fun and care free enjoyment at Pragati Maidan.

And then we saw a bicycle rider suddenly turning to right and a fast moving truck applying brakes.  Truck had hit the bicycle rider and then hit a tree on central verge. Both truck driver and cycle driver were badly hurt but conscious.

People stopped and watched the accident scene but no body offered any help to the accident victims. I with the help of auto-rickshaw driver moved them to the vehicle we were traveling in  (that is auto-rickshaw) and asked Geeta to move to Pragati Maidan along with Upasana and we went to near by army base hospital.

After some time,  Geeta and Upasana also reached Base Hospital courtesy another good samaritan. We moved out after giving our name and address and feeling happy.

Few days later, an army major visited us to thank us as the bicycle rider was a army jawan.

Almost every one with whom we shared this incident advised me not to help accident victims. The logic of well-wishers was simple - it is a bad world, your daughter and wife need protection and care.

My logic was also simple - I want my daughter to be a TIGER and not a MOUSE. And they only way is to be TIGER myself.

Since then, every time I see an accident victim, I stop and help to best of my resources. My well wishers keep telling me not to do it.

So What has been your experience. Do you find people around you take the role of TIGER or MOUSE when faced with a crisis. Share your views.

First Impact of Brain Science Program

During the seminar, I learned that our future actions are based on results of past actions.

I could see that in the past I managed to get results even when I was not punctual or did not do complete work in my office. The reason is that almost all of people in our life do not confront when we lie. (popularly known as diplomacy).

This results in poor efficiency / productivity as we also tend to accept their lies.

So our seminar leader gave us some exercises (home work) and result was that I managed to double up the work last week. My team (and one customer) was really impressed.

Stay tuned. I will be posting more results from this seminar.

Hi, This week we completed 24 years of marriage. During these 24 years, we have gone thru various phases - state of extreme love and affection to the extreme hatred and anger towards each other.

We started our married life on Sep 22,1985. With a low cost marriage on a sunday afternoon, my mom was very upset as few of my Mama's and Massi's skipped the marriage function due to some dispute with my parents.

Initial few years were tough, there were financial problems, my rigid ideas about religion and dowry, my focus on work and my hobby of reading books and electronics development were not very conducive for love and affection.

My mother completed her life in Feb 1987 due to high blood pressure. She was in hospital for around 3 months.

We moved to a rented accommodation. Geeta was pregnant and we had no money for backup. Geeta resigned from her job as a teacher in Manav Sthali School and we managed on a monthly salary of Rs 3600/-.

Upasana was born on July 22nd,1987 in a 'five star' nursing home with airconditioned room, color TV and a large double door fridge. We did not have either of these at our home. Thanks to medical expense reimbursement policy of DCM Data Products, we were able to afford this luxury.

I visited Hongkong twice in connection to my part time work. Upasana was growing and we enjoyed her activities. Extra money from part time work allowed us few luxeries like a 14" color TV and frequent holidays to Massoori, Hardiwar, Shimla and few more places.

In 1990, I changed job and moved to PCL at a salary of Rs 6,000/- per month. I was able to get some part time work. I designed two software packages for a 5 star hotel and ASIC for a computer printer.

In 1992, I got a job at INTECON (same company for whom I designed ASIC) and shifted to Noida at a salary of 15k per month. I bought a second hand moped and learned driving it. Travelling on our own conveyance gave us lot of freedom and enjoyment. My part time work continued and I kept on making few thousands every month extra.

In 1995, I designed a set top converter. That got me good money in Lakhs, I bought a second hand fiat, A two bed room flat and of course a mobile phone. Geeta took care of interiors at our home and it was model flat in our colony. Almost every day we had a walk-in visitor who wanted to look at our home, wood work etc..

In 1996, Intecon closed down and I started my design work on a full time basis. This was the best period. We had money, love, growth and happiness in our life.

In 1998, Geeta suffered from sever back-pain and we had to move to a rented accommodation. One of my design on CALLER ID became instant hit and I earned again few lakhs. I bought air conditioned SANTRO car. This car changed our life and we travelled long distance to Haridwar, Rishikesh, Sariska, Ludhiana by road.

Dimpi and Abhijit joined my company as trainee, Very soon they were part of our family.

In 2003, we shifted to JSS Incubator. Our profits kept on increasing. I did not know at that time, But now I realise that the earnings made me an arrogant and rude persons.

We bought our first luxury car HONDA CITY in Jan 2004.

Things started going down the drain and I started loosing business, money and on top of it love and intimacy at home.

Between 2004 to 2008, it was a dark period of our life, Geeta decided to kill herself, I decided to divorce her and we had bitter fights regularly. This further affected our business. We lost all love, intimacy and peace.

Vijay, my younger brother suffered from Pancreatites and Heart Problems. He was able to recover thanks to his will-power. Despite his health problems, he performed well at his office and was able to reach to a high(est) level in his office.

In Aug 2006, I attended Landmark Education's program called Landmark Forum. The three days spent there opened my eyes and I could see my mistakes. However realising mistakes did not solve any real world problems. Geeta and Upasana also participated in landmark programs. However slowly and gradually, period of love and intimacy started increasing and fights and anger reduced.

Landmark taught us that every thing is possible, just declare what you want, work for it and you will get it - no small print or conditions apply.

I declared some targets - one was to let go of my anger towards my mama and mami not attending my marriage. Geeta supported me fully and very soon, we re-created our relations with Mama and Mami, our cousins and their kids. We spoke with Suparna in Sep 2006 almost 20 years after her marriage and met Neerja in Jan 2007 and her cute little princesses, Neha and Vritti, first time in June 2007.

Geeta also re-created her relations with her younger sister in Oct 2006. Both of them particiapted in Landmark Forum and Geeta gave up her anger towards her sister and today there is lot of love and affection between sisters.

In Jan 2008, Maggie came and joined our family. She contributed unconditional love in our family and became darling of all of us including our neighbours. Now to all kids we are 'Maggie ke Papa and Mummy' and not 'Tau and Tai'.

In July 2008, I shifted to Amity Innovation Incubator. My business profits started increasing and by March 2009, we are clear of all debts. During next few months, we made some extra money and kept it safe as buffer stock. Upasana joined MA (Psychology) in Kurukshetra. She was happy in doing what she wanted.

Dad completed his life on Aug 8,2008 after remaining unconscious for few weeks due to (probably) his sugar level falling very low . As per his wishes he was cremated at Indraprastha, a small village near Bhuj, Gujrat. I spent few days at the village after cremation. We also donated his eyes and other organs.

Geeta started working for half day from home and his earnings increase to 15k per month soon. She also controls all the finance of my business and visits my office once or twice every week. She remain busy, happy and excited. She spend all his earnings on buying gold / jewellery.

Abhihit resigned from his job in May 2009 after working for almost 10 years with us. Dimpi also left the job some time in 2006, however she kept doing some part time work in between. She moved to Mumbai and then back to Gurgaon. Geeta and Dimpi have developed a good bond and keep on sharing lot. Hardik (Dimpi's son) has developed a good bond with me and during his last visit to our home, declared his desire to change his name to Hardik Vinay.

In Aug 2009, we shifted back to our home. Again Geeta worked hard on interiors and renovated our home. IT IS LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL and FULL OF LOVE, HAPPINESS AND INTIMACY.

Now we are looking forward to Sep 2010 when we will be completing 25 years of marriage.

Have faith in Love and Truth. Give 100% to your partner. Nothing matters more than Love and Happiness.

"Tere Sang" first day first show

This thursday all three of us (Me, Geeta and Upasana) saw movie "Tere Sang"

Manoj Mittal who co-produced this movie invited Upasana and her parents for a premier of the movie at Spice Mall, Noida. Upasana was his coach at Self Expression and Leadership Program.

Upasana was thrilled at a chance to meet Ruslaan. After seeing him and the others from the movie, we found Anupam Kher much smarter than Ruslaan.

We enjoyed the movie, free snacks and drinks, meeting the star cast including sweet Sheena in bright red dress.

In 1982, when I spent over two years learning about various aspects of Human Psychology, I became firm beliver that "kids need love and mother more than money" and "that sex education starts at home".

This movie talked about both the issues and also raised a new issue of "LAW OF THE NATURE vs LAW OF THE LAND".

Message is clear "LAW OF THE LAND IS IMPORTANT. LET PARENTS SUPPORT KIDS IN TALKING ABOUT LAW OF THE NATURE AND BENIFITS OF PATIENCE".

Do watch this movie. It is worth the time and money. Do take your kids (or parents) along with you.

Love

Delay at Airport

Hi All,

let me share one more incident where I used 90/10 principle and got results.

In last week of April 08, my customer asked me to go to lucknow and attend to a serious problem in one of the elevator installed at NABARD building. I am called at the last moment when situation is about to explode or already exploded and every one is looking for magic solution.

I reached Delhi airport at 6 AM as flight was scheduled to leave  at 8 AM. There was unusually heave rush at Indian(now Air India) counter. I stood in queue number 23 with around 15 people in front of me. Minutes passed by and queue moved very slowly. It appears that computer systems were very slow and this was causing delay and hence long queue. To top it up, most of the passengers were arguing with The After over one hour, my turn came. Standing in the queue for one hour, I was tired and under pressure thinking about problem at lucknow.

Well when I handed over my ticket  to the lady at the counter, I smiled, wished her a good morning and gave her my ticket printout. The worst happened and their was total breakdown of the system. Nothing happened for next five minutes. The gentleman at next counter started complaining about the delay at his counter. The lady must have said something and then more arguments and hot words started between the lady at the counter and the passenger.

I told the lady at my queue counter that her job is really tough and she is really wonderful to remain cool and calm in such an atmosphere. Finally I got my boarding pass after waiting for 15 minutes. I left after thanking her and appreciating at her patience. The man standing behind me commented that How can I thank her 10 times even while waiting for such a long time.  I smiled and moved for security check.

I do not know about others, but I was cool, calm and relaxed even after standing in queue for one hour. After all what happens in my life is controlled by me and not be computer system of air india.

Experience with Delhi Traffic Police - Challan/Ticket for using Mobile while driving

Today afternoon, I was going to meet my CA. Baljeet, my driver was on leave and so I was driving the car myself. I received a phone call when I was near Ashram Chowk. I picked up the call and started talking in handsfree mode. The call from Manoj, A potential customer and so I continued talking.

In few minutes, I was on Lajpat Nagar flyover and saw a police can in my rear view mirror and the police man waving me. Well, I pulled my car on the side, switched on blinker, shut off the engine and came out. The police van also stopped behind my car.

I went to the police man sitting next to driver, gave him a smile, did not utter a word and gave him my license. He smiled back and asked for the RC (Registration Certificate). I got the thick envelop from the car containing all documents, searched and found the RC and gave him the copy.

Police man asked me if I would like to pay penalty in cash or appear before Judge later on where I can plead ignorance. He informed me that penalty is Rs 1500/-

I said that I was talking on the phone,so there is no question of denying here or in front of judge, however as I do not have sufficient cash, I will appear before the judge.

The police man asked me if I have Rs 600/- then he can reduce the penalty and make challan only for that amount. I checked and wallet and said that yes, I have Rs 600/-. Police person made the recipt, gave me a copy, collected Rs 600/- from me.

I thanked him and said that this will ensure that I wont talk while driving in future.

The police man smiled and said it is okay. He said that he was pleased by my cool behavior and thats why they fined me for driving without seat belt(which carries less penalty) and not for using mobile while driving.

In all I found this interaction with them very good, there was no tension and pressure, no demand for bribe. The police men were polite, courteous and professional.

So what has been your experience with Delhi Police?
